We can’t resist sharing our Sarmiethon 2024 news with you! Can you believe five years later this crazy feel-good event keeps on getting better! It is our job to make giving, feel great. Who would believe that spreading sandwiches for four hours straight to gift to children in need, could be so much fun. It is back breaking and exhilarating simultaneously, especially when you’re grooving to the music and competing against colleagues to spread as fast as you can.
Corporate teams rolled up their sleeves in at both venues – V&A Makers Landing and AtEd’s in Houghton, to battle it out to be the regional Sarmiethon Champions 2024. Spectators could not believe the atmosphere as hundreds of corporate competitors brought their A-game in celebration of World Sandwich Day.
A round of applause for our winners – we celebrate you ALL for being amazing and working your magic in the true spirit of ubuntu.
This is what our founder, Danny Diliberto, had to say who led the day in Cape Town whipping up the winning spirit:
“And just like that, Sarmiethon 2024 is done and dusted. It was another day of beautiful collaboration where over 100 people in each city, filled with gees and smiles, came together to do good for those a lot less privileged than you and me. Over 67 000 sandwiches were made and distributed through our beneficiaries, and what we take as a simple sandwich is a smile of relief to another.
Thank you to our sponsors: Coronation Fund Managers, Anchor Yeast, Blue Ribbon, V & A Waterfront – Makers Landing, AtEds, and Rhodes Quality Foods for always walking with us. Know that Ladles of Love appreciates you.”
To Coronation Fund Managers – a big shout-out for partnering with us on Sarmiethon and helping drive awareness around supporting education through nutrition.
Wisahl Ganief, Group Head of Marketing at Coronation, shared this comment with us:
“Coronation is delighted to be involved in the Ladles of Love Sarmiethon for the fourth year running. We have been supporting this important and worthwhile initiative since 2021 because it is about so much more than just a corporate challenge to make sandwiches for children in need or celebrating World Sandwich Day. Sarmiethon is part of a much bigger long-term nutrition initiative for young children across South Africa. At Coronation, we believe hunger and education outcomes are inextricably linked – and we want to be a part of the solution.”
A huge thank you to all our Teams and EVERYONE who participated in this year’s Sarmiethon! Your team donations will help us nourish, nurture, and grow the little ones who desperately need nutritious food to support their education. It’s a wrap!
We look forward to introducing you to our exciting new campaign in next week’s Love Letter – watch this space.
With gratitude and abundant blessings,
Danny and the team at Ladles of love ❤️
