On a sunny day, a few weeks ago, 68 generous golfers took to the course to ‘play forward food with love’ for the little ones in our Nourish our Children programme. We say a heartfelt thank you to each one of you.
Friday, 28 March 2025 saw our third annual Ladles of Love Charity Golf Day at the Metropolitan Golf Club in Green Point. Amazingly, our golf four-ball teams were sold out in no time at all. We can only think this is because the event has become renowned for being a well-organised, action-packed day filled with laughter, love, treats galore and good golf! A big thanks to Bob Bolus, who kindly donated his time and expertise this year to co-ordinate the golfers.
At Ladles of Love, we say money can’t buy the feeling of knowing you’re doing something good that benefits others. Kindness is a currency that generates joy, so it was 18 holes of happiness! Of course, there is nothing like a bit of competitive spirit and this was fueled by the substantial prize pool donated incredibly generously by our awesome sponsors.

The 19th Hole Restaurant, which overlooks the DHL Cape Town Stadium and Table Mountain, was host venue to our prize-giving and auction. This was the setting where golfers, their partners and invited guests came together for an evening marked by camaraderie and a shared spirit of giving. The auctioneer and host of the evening was none other than our Programme Director, Yolanda Jones, who miraculously managed to raise the stakes through her skill of combining clever banter, humour and heartfelt storytelling.
While it was a festive evening, fundraising remained the ultimate goal — and no one understands the importance of these funds better than Yolanda, who knows just how vital they are in supporting the more than 7,000 children in our preschool nutrition programme. The auction brochure showcased the amazing donated holidays, experiences, and objects d’art, which – thanks to both our donors and the bidders – raised funds for over 50,000 meals for the children.
What a day, what a night and what a result! Anyone will tell you, arranging golf days is not easy and that’s why it takes such a huge circle of people and kindness to pull it off every year.
To everyone involved in whatever role you played: We are who we are, because of you – and we can only do what we do, because of you – so from all of us, a BIG thank you.
