Living in a frenetic world where aside from being ridiculously busy, the uncertainty means we have no idea what’s happening from one minute to the next! There are too many elements – environmental, governmental or societal, which are outside of our control. Everyone is doing their best to cope but what helps effectively?
It was during the thick of Covid-times, we recognised the need for people to roll up their sleeves and get involved in doing something, in service to others. This is when we started our ‘Love Activism’ programme – recognising the social injustices facing people in our communities and offering opportunities for concerned individuals and companies, to take action.
Candice Etberg our Ladles of Love Gauteng COO shares her story about our programme this week:
“What exactly is Love Activism? Well, at Ladles of Love, when we talk about Love Activism, or our Love Activists, we are talking about Love in action. An action that moves and touches the hearts of all walks of life, all ages and all stages.
We put our love into action, be it via our Dignity Kitchens that feed hundreds of homeless people, or Corporate team-builds where colleagues get together and put their love into action – and even little children at the advantaged pre-schools, who put their love into action by doing simple little tasks such as filling jars of hope with nutritious food, colouring in and sending them off to our disadvantaged pre schools – for the children who are not always guaranteed a meal at home.
What stands out for me time and again, is the joy and the smiles that I witness when I see people putting love into action. Love is contagious – and when people get together with the intention of doing good for good, LOVE will always prevail. It is a wonderful feeling.
Every action that is taken at or through Ladles of Love, is LOVE IN ACTION. It feels great to do good, to know that time spent making a difference in people’s lives fills OUR hearts with love too. So we encourage YOU to bring your team along, book a team-build, and become a Love Activist. Sometimes the simplest things in life, have the impact of a lifetime….”

Our annual SARMIETHON in celebration of World Sandwich Day is on Friday 1st November and we are challenging all companies to enter a team. Our generously sponsored host venues are Makers Landing, V&A Waterfront and AtEds, Houghton Jozi.
This is what one of our key sponsors Coronation Fund Manager’s head of Marketing, Wisahl Ganief had to share: “Coronation is delighted to be involved in the Ladles of Love Sarmiethon for the fourth year running. We have been supporting this important and worthwhile initiative since 2021 because it is about so much more than just a corporate challenge to make sandwiches for children in need or celebrating World Sandwich Day. Sarmiethon is part of a much bigger long-term nutrition initiative for young children across South Africa. At Coronation, we believe hunger and education outcomes are inextricably linked – and we want to be a part of the solution.”

With abundant blessings and gratitude,
