Dear Ladles Supporter

With one month to go until Mandela Day, we know many of you are still mulling over what to do! With this in mind, we thought we would share stories in the hope that they might inspire you to join us.

Where to begin? Maybe by sharing the big idea behind our ‘Hands-On’ Hero concept, which is simply based on Nelson Mandela’s rally cry that it is in our hands to make a better world. Madiba brought the ethos of ubuntu to life by simply stating: if you volunteer your time in service to others, you are creating a better world for all.

The wisdom is extraordinary. Volunteerism has become a lifeline for both the volunteer and the beneficiary. Consider the benefits for those giving, it boosts mental health and self-confidence, provides a sense of purpose and belonging, and gives rise to empathy and compassion that often result in personal reflection and growth.

Volunteerism is a phenomenon. Every CEO, head of HR or small business owner fully understands that, right now, mental and physical wellness in the workplace is paramount. The same applies to parents trying to stay sane with kids who need something grounding to do during the school holidays, or community service to complete.

Recognising the need, we have created massive volunteering platforms for our annual ‘Hands-On Events’, delivering a meaningful experience for individuals and teams to handmake items that nurture little children in need.

We are honoured and grateful to have formed strategic partnerships with two world-class venues that are sponsoring and hosting our Mandela Day flagship events.

A big shout-out to the team at DHL Stadium, led by Gina Woodburn, who shared:

We are delighted to be hosting Ladles of Love Mandela Day at the DHL Stadium on Friday 17 July. It’s all about people coming together to make a positive impact and we hope to see loads of people joining in and enjoying their time with us. DHL Stadium is honoured to support an initiative that inspires generosity, connection, and meaningful change in our communities.”

A drum roll for Adele Hartdegen and her team at Johannesburg Expo Centre, who tell us why this partnership matters:
We are delighted to formalise this three-year partnership with Ladles of Love, an organisation whose impact extends far beyond food relief and into the heart of community development. As a venue, we are committed to supporting initiatives that create meaningful social change, and we are proud to provide a home for Ladles of Love’s important work over the coming years. This agreement reflects our shared values of compassion, collaboration, and community upliftment. We look forward to growing this relationship and helping create opportunities for even greater impact across the communities we serve.

While we are on a roll, it’s a gigantic round of applause forInspire Furniture Rentals, which, for the 7th consecutive year, is ensuring everyone can be accommodated and seated in all our activation zones, an incredible feat at this scale.

Joining the line-up of partners this year are GL Events, with event support, infrastructure and wayfinding designed to take the volunteering experience to a whole new level of excellence.

As you can imagine, we are feeling truly blessed and cannot wait to share this special time with you. Doing good has never felt this good, and the impact of getting ‘hands-on’ is watching our future leaders realise their dreams.

Get your tickets and let’s do it,

Danny and the Ladles of Love team. ❤️
