Dear Ladles Supporter

As Women’s Day approaches, I’ve been reflecting on my time as an intern here at Feed the Soil, and honestly, it’s been so moving to see the “bigger picture” coming to life. Our network of 100+ urban farmers in townships like Langa and Khayelitsha is the heartbeat of this project, and so many of these incredible leaders are women who are restoring their land and feeding their communities.

Following the Mandela Day event at DHL, we had the joy of gifting these farmers boxes of seeds to help them grow even more in their home and community gardens. It’s a small gesture with a massive impact, turning your contributions into a community farmer’s dream.

What makes this work so special is that it isn’t just sustainable, it’s regenerative. Sustainability helps us maintain the world we have, but regeneration asks how we can leave it healthier, stronger, and more resilient for future generations. Every food scrap diverted from landfill helps restore soil, supports local women farmers, strengthens food security, and builds a circular system where one act of giving continues to create impact long after it’s made.

Every time you contribute to our circular ecosystem, you aren’t just helping the environment, you are actually standing for farmers, women in farming, economic independence, and stronger local food systems. You are helping us direct R3.6 million back to local farmers, ensuring these women have a route to market for their hard-earned harvests.

Thank you for helping us prove that when we support women, we truly build brighter futures together.

Stay Rooted,
Hlela and the Feed the Soil team 💚
