Dear Ladles Supporter
Nick here, Feed the Soil’s newly appointed Sustainable Agriculture Field Coordinator. I’m here to share with you what I’ve experienced during my early days at FTS as well as the abundant and inspiring things I get to see during my day to day.
I am more than thrilled to be a part of the FTS family and contribute towards a regenerative agriculture model that I truly believe in, alongside like-minded individuals who share a similar vision for what our future should look like. Being able to witness how effective and wholly nourishing this project is, is an immense privilege, and all this sustainable success is thanks to you!
I spend the majority of my week in the field liaising with farmers, assisting with an assortment of challenges and difficulties, providing guidance with production planning and sharing knowledge where I can. I also get to see your food waste being processed into compost and seeing this compost nurture gardens and beds that are teeming with life, regardless of the rough conditions and sandy soils our farmers have to endure. The vibrant veggies and produce you pick through each week are grown with the utmost care in every sense of the word and from each and every corner of the process.
While organic and regenerative farming poses various challenges it also opens the door for numerous innovative solutions. While trying my best to provide for FTS farmers I have also subsequently learnt a lot from spending time with them in the field. From organic pest deterrents to creative irrigation techniques, I’ve come to believe that anything is possible in your garden – you just have to make it happen.
I look to the future of Feed the Soil with fond excitement, seeking to grow our family and more produce, with our core values remaining at the forefront. I am so grateful to combine my passions of regenerative agriculture, environmentalism and community all within this role of mine and I can’t wait to see more, learn more and continue to Feed the Soil.
