Dear Ladles Supporter

Ladles of Love is privileged to meet ordinary people doing extraordinary things in their communities. This week, we introduce you to another Hero of Hope – Wendy Moyahabo Ramogale, the proud principal of Thabelang Kgotso Early Learning Centre, as she shares her story of perseverance and love for her community.

“I was born and raised in Alexandra, one of South Africa’s oldest urban townships, and the Alex I remember is very different from the one we know today. Back then, it was often called ‘Dark City’. We grew up on dusty roads, and many of us did not have electricity in our homes. Despite our environment, I was a very bubbly child. I loved making jokes, singing and being part of the church choir. I believe my love for people and my joyful spirit started in those early days.

I became a mother at a young age, with only my uncle to support me, and I faced the challenges of being a single mother. Years later, I met my husband and we welcomed our second daughter. This time, the experience was difficult. I had serious complications during childbirth and nearly lost my life. It left me fearful of having any more children.

While working as a cashier at Spar, I applied for an employment opportunity without knowing exactly what I was applying for, only to discover that it was an Early Childhood Development learnership. That opportunity changed the direction of my life.

After working at a preschool in Waterfall, I returned to my community to create something meaningful for its children. That dream became the Thabelang Kgotso Early Learning Centre. I found it challenging to provide food and to meet the basic needs of the children, especially with limited financial support. This was when Ladles of Love became part of my journey.

I did not start this journey because I wanted an award, but because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of children in the community I grew up in. My dream is to keep growing and eventually open branches in other communities, and to keep doing what I love most: caring for and nurturing our future leaders.”

Ladles of Love’s reach has enabled us to support selfless individuals who consistently choose to make a difference every day. We can celebrate these remarkable people and continue to provide them with the resources and nourishment they deserve, thanks to your generosity.
