The good news is that this week we are celebrating.  Why? It’s because it is Women’s Day and we are honouring our Ladles of Love ‘Women Warriors’. These are the incredible community women who, against all odds, are raising the small children of our nation.

These extraordinary human beings live in poverty-stricken areas where they have created places and spaces filled with love, hope and joy. This collective of courageous women put themselves last and their places of shelter first, managing to nourish, nurture and grow the tiny local children in their care.

The children’s mothers themselves are battling survival daily as they try to find ways to earn a living with no prospect of jobs, least of all close to the informal settlements they call home.  When these woman put food on the table for their families, they eating last as the sad reality is, there is not always enough to go around.

Working on the ground in these communities, we see first-hand the impact of the state of our nation and how the poorest of the poor are hit the hardest. As a team, it is heartbreaking to see and simultaneously makes us so mad because it is just not fair.  There is no justice in the fact that women and children in our country are victims of a failed society where basic human rights are inconceivable.

It is an honour and privilege for our organisation with your support to be in service to these women. Every single week they receive substantial amounts of fresh produce and nutritious food that is more than enough to feed all the children, teachers and helpers in their care.

We see these women as our partners, and by uplifting them through training and skills development especially in and around nutrition, we are supporting the education of small children.  The ripple effect on the community is huge – with each meal comes hope replacing fear and life seems brighter and better place for all.

As we celebrate our ‘Women Warrior’ partners – we say thank you to YOU. It is only through your kindness and compassion as donors and volunteers that we can help at all.   Most of our donors are women – we see you, respect you, honour you and thank you for walking this journey with us.

With abundant blessings and appreciation,
Danny and the team at Ladles of Love ❤️
