This week sees us jump into July, schools close and the countdown to our Mandela Day kicks in, bringing a wave of excitement and a flurry of activity, with people heeding our rally cry and taking action for the greater good.
The ticket sales for our big events are picking up for both DHL Stadium and Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, and we are hoping that our supporters who are parents, will see the value of their children doing community service on Mandela Day. With so much gaming and isolation in winter, our events provide a safe and healthy outing to have fun while doing good for good. To make the offering even more compelling, this year we are even providing a ‘Community service help desk’ for scholars and students to get their official forms stamped.
Meanwhile, corporates are seeing the value of our offering and booking loads of tickets for their employee team-builds. The good news is, we have special group packages, which make the whole booking process seamless. We invoice and on payment, issue tickets, and post-event, we’ll generate 18A Tax Certificates and provide a donor impact report.
It really is an amazing offering for everyone, as we have sourced and secured, or found generous sponsors for all the raw materials and food required – to MAKE, CREATE, CRAFT or GROW items for our preschool children and teachers.
Doing fundraising events on this scale is nerve-wrecking, so going in-field to visit a preschool on the outskirts of Khayelitsha in Site B, to a tiny two-roomed corrugated iron bungalow was the perfect reminder of WHY we do, what we do.🇿🇦❤️🇿🇦
Here in a poverty-stricken area is a preschool haven, which since our last visit we noticed the principals Nosipho and Mazwi Ndikolo have managed to repair floors and the leaking roof. As we walked in, we were met by happy and healthy little children bouncing around, who are flourishing on our nutrition programme. What really made our hearts sing was the teachers beaming with pride, as after their Ladles of Love training session, they love using our recipes to cook up healthy daily meals. 🥕🍎🍠🍅🫑🥔

The fact is, the Nourish Our Children programme supports education through nutrition that so many of you are sponsoring, and the impact is real.
Buying tickets for our Mandela Day will help sustain and expand adding more preschools to our programme.
